Speakables for iPhoto works with Speakable Items, the FREE voice recognition software that is already contained in your Mac OS X computer. Speakable Items frees you from your desktop (or makes you look cool when sitting there) by allowing you to control your Mac with simple voice commands. There are many common voice commands built in that you can already use right away, or create your own.

Speakables for iPhoto extends the capabilities of Speakable Items by allowing you to make your iPhoto Slideshows "speakable" (that is, they will begin playing when you say the name of the playlist) --something you can't do with Speakable Items alone.

IMPORTANT: When using Speakable Items (and Speakables) with iPhoto, your slideshow will automatically display a cool Ken Burns transition effect. If you want to use other transition effects, you should export your slideshow and create a Quicktime Video instead. We are working with Apple to enable this feature for future versions, and once available, all upgrades will of course, be free!

Important: you MUST first activate and begin using Speakable Items
BEFORE using Speakables for iPhoto

Bluetooth headsets do NOT work with Speakable Items or Speakables.

Instructions:

  1. Activate Speakable Items.
  2. Download and install Speakables for iPhoto. (See above.)
  3. Now just Open iPhoto, and you can make any Slideshow or Album speakable by selecting it.
  4. Then say "Make speakable slideshow" (Remember: if you've configured Speakables Items to require a Push-to-Talk key like "Esc", to hold that key while saying your command.)
  5. If you have selected an ALBUM, it is now speakable. If you have selected a SLIDESHOW, you will be prompted to type the name of the Slideshow. (Note: Once inputted, It may take several seconds the first time for the program to process the command to be spoken.)
  6. To Start a speakable slideshow, just say "Show" followed by the NAME of the slideshow.
