Launch your Playlists, Podcasts, Radio Stations and more, just by using your voice!

Speakables for iTunes works with Speakable Items, the FREE voice recognition software that is already contained in your Mac OS X computer. Speakable Items frees you from your desktop (or makes you look cool when sitting there) by allowing you to control your Mac with simple voice commands. There are many common voice commands built in that you can already use right away, or create your own.

If you haven't activated Speakable Items before, CLICK HERE for some simple instructions and helpful tips.

Speakable for iTunes extends the capabilities of Speakable Items by allowing you to make your Playlists "speakable" (that is, they will begin playing when you say the name of the playlist) --something you can't do with Speakable Items alone.

To Get Started:

  1. Activate Speakable Items.
  2. Download and install Speakables for iTunes. (See end of page.)
  3. Now just Open iTunes, and you can make any PLAYLIST speakable by selecting the desired playlist.
  4. Then highlight any item in that Playlist.
  5. Now just Click on the Script Icon on the Menu bar (as shown below), and select "Make speakable playlist." That's it! Your playlist is now speakable.
  6. To Start a speakable playlist, just say "Play" followed by the Name of the playlist.

Using i Tunes:

If you're new to using iTunes, it's a good idea to convert your favorite Podcasts and Radio Stations into individual Playlists. This way, they're easy to access and you don't have to navigate through folders each time you want to play them. (Notice Music One and NPR radio stations listed individually in the left column of the screenshot above.)

To make these items into playlists:

  1. Select the item;
  2. Click on "File" and select "New Playlist From Selection."

And since they are now Playlists, you will now be able to make them speakable as well, just using the simple instructions above for making playlists speakable using Speakables for iTunes!
